The number of MK1 Golf GTI’s converted by Turbo Technics is nowadays unclear. Ask the Company the question and most of the registration details have now been placed in “File 13” for cars made before 1984/85. Cars after this date should still be registered, but this will clearly not cover the MK1 Golf GTI as these are all prior to this date.

How Frustrating for owners of these rare machines……

Turbo Technics also no longer offer the conversion for the MK1 Golf, and the MK2 Golf conversion was subsequently taken over by Stealth Racing who applied their own modern technology to the conversion to improve it further, increasing the BHP and Torque produced.

I have checked with Club GTI, and they have one converted car registered—MINE (this is not good news when trying to trace cars !!)

I have had emails from a few VW specialists who have had the odd car pass through their hands, some of which also have the odd Turbo Technics kit boxed up for use at some later point. The total count now comes to Three. However, the serial number for these cars is unknown as these cars have been passed on to other owners
